Birth Classes in Sioux Falls, SD

We are SO excited to welcome a new Birth Boot Camp childbirth educator! She joins our founder, Donna Ryan, in the great state of South Dakota. It’s just amazing to watch this group of women grow as they seek to help more couples have amazing births. Without further ado, welcome Paige!

Introduce yourself and tell us a bit about your birth experiences.

Hi! My name is Paige and I teach birth classes in Sioux Falls, SD. I am a registered nurse working in Sioux Falls SD as well. I am married to my high school sweetheart Jared and together we have one son. We are expecting our second child soon!

My birth went just as I had hoped it would. I was under the care of a midwife. I was able to use water and massage for relaxation. My doula was wonderful in helping me to remain calm during labor. I was able to have a natural, unmedicated labor and delivery.

What first got you interested in birth work?

I have always been intrigued by pregnancy and birth. My husband and I struggled to get pregnant. We quickly got pregnant once we sought the help of a local chiropractor. She sent us on a path to natural childbirth classes, midwifery care and hiring a doula. This set us up for a wonderful natural birth.

The birth of our son lit a fire inside of me. I needed to help other mothers prepare to have amazing birth experiences! That is why I sought to be a childbirth educator. I found Birth Boot Camp to be the right fit for me and signed up!

Do you have any particular passions concerning birth?

I would love to help educate first time moms. I feel far too many women are robbed of great birth experiences. I want to empower couples with the knowledge they need to be advocates for themselves during their pregnancy and labors.

With knowledge comes power and families have a right to have great experiences. No two births are the same, but having a good knowledge base will help couples to prepare and achieve the birth they want to have.

Why did you choose Birth Boot Camp as your certifying organization?

As I was doing my research into different organizations, I was just really impressed with what Birth Boot Camp has to offer. The materials are beautiful, updated, comprehensive and not biased. They really want all women to have great birth experiences and that aligns with my goals. I signed up for Birth Boot Camp childbirth educator training.

Tell us a little about your Birth Boot Camp training experience- what did you like about it, where was it, who was your trainer?

The initial part of training includes a study guide and reading many different books. This part gave me a greater understanding of all things pregnancy, birth and baby. Then I watched all ten online videos. This was my favorite part.

I loved getting to see how Donna and Sarah teach their classes. It gave me tips and tricks for myself. In April, I went to training in Kansas with Amy Anderson. It was an intensive training on everything I need to know to teach and grow my business.

The training was fun and really rounded out my knowledge on how to teach Birth Boot Camp classes. I had tons of questions answered and left with a ton of great information on how to start my business. I left feeling excited and ready to get started!

How did your training help prepare you for teaching birth classes in Sioux Falls, SD?

It gave me all the tools I need to set up my classes. There were variations that I can chose from, for example, the teaching tools. This is nice because I can’t afford to buy a bunch of fancy props just yet.

I plan to work my way up to that getting those but can start small. The training went through each class step by step and showed how to teach them. There are also power point presentations that go with each class to keep us on track.
