Amy Anderson- Instructor and Doula Trainer
My name is Amy Anderson born and raised in Oklahoma, Go Pokes! I love a good storm, which I guess you have to when you live in Tornado Alley. I’ve lived in several other southern states but always come back to good ol’ home sweet home.
I have five littles, each of them have their own wonderfully unique birth stories. One emergency cesarean, one repeat cesarean, two hospital VBA2C’s and an HBA2C. Through my own birth journey, my passion for birth grew, so I became a birth doula in 2009. Then, seeing the need for better education before labor I decided to find a comprehensive childbirth education program, that is when I found Birth Boot Camp and I have been a Birth Boot Camp Instructor since 2012. I’m thrilled to be offering Birth Boot Camp Instructor and doula training in many different locations.
Jillian Blakeman, Instructor Trainer
I love Birth Boot Camp.
It is unsurpassed in curriculum and preparation for couples wanting an amazing birth experience. As a former high school teacher, I know the value of solid curriculum, of entertainment that also teaches and information that makes a difference.
When I began teaching childbirth classes, I knew that someday I wanted to train teachers too. I am thrilled to bring training across the country. I thrill at the “a-ha!” moments with my students and I can’t wait to have those same experiences with future instructors. You can read more about Jillian here.
Andrea Brannock- Instructor Trainer
As a mother of five and a former elementary school teacher, I love that working as a childbirth educator, and childbirth educator trainer, brings together some the things I am most passionate about: education and childbirth. I have had a range of birthing experiences myself, and childbirth education was a turning point for me.
I didn’t take a childbirth class until my third baby and it changed so much. I have loved teaching couples in the last few years and I can’t wait to help you find that same joy, as a childbirth educator. I live in the DFW area, but am thrilled to be traveling the country, visiting some of my favorite places, and meeting new people. You can learn more about Andrea by reading here.
Carmen Calvo- Instructor Trainer
My name is Carmen Calvo and I am so excited to be bringing Birth Boot Camp instructor training to Baltimore! I’ve lived in Charm City all of my life and welcome you to see all the charm for yourself while preparing to bring the best childbirth education curriculum to your own community.
My husband and I have two sons and their very different birth experiences were the catalyst for my career as a birth worker. My first birth went from a planned homebirth to hospital induction due to pre-eclampsia. The quick change of plans left me and my husband feeling scared and unsure how to navigate an intervention-heavy birth. My second son was welcomed peacefully at home only 14 months later, but my husband still wasn’t confident in supporting me as I labored.
Because of my own experiences, I knew when researching childbirth curricula that training the partner how to support a laboring mom was crucial. I am passionate and committed to helping couples achieve their birth goals and I am thrilled to be able to help you do the same as a Birth Boot Camp instructor.
Sarah Clark- Instructor Trainer
I always believed in natural birth- it seemed logical to me and I sensed the innate power of women. When I had my first baby in 2004, I labored for over 50 hours and had a natural hospital birth. After that amazing birth experience, I knew that I would have had a very different experience if my husband and I had not been given the knowledge we needed to make it through. My belief in birth was just a small part of that great birth; education was what truly made it possible. I knew I needed to pay it forward and I knew every couple deserved an incredible start to their parenting journey! So much has happened since that first birth, the birth that taught me how strong I truly was.
I now have four children, and I started teaching other couples how to have their own great births in 2008. I have a passion for this work and helping couples have joyful birth experiences is truly the best job ever. In 2011, my friend and the woman who taught my own childbirth class, Donna Ryan, founded Birth Boot Camp and I was honored to join her. Donna and I have trained hundreds of future childbirth educators and it is AMAZING every time. Come join us! We have a good time, but more than that, you get to make money while having work that truly matters. I love this job because it is MORE than a job- it is your way of making a positive difference in the world every single day. You can read more about Sarah Clark here.
Jillian Freeland- Instructor and Doula Trainer
My personal birth experiences led me to become a doula. After experiencing the amazing support of a doula at my last birth, I knew this was what I wanted to do. I have loved every moment of being a doula – it’s my sweet spot! I have a passion to see women rise up and find out how strong they truly are. As a childbirth educator, I see couples do this throughout Birth Boot Camp classes. As a doula, I see women do this in their births. No matter what the outcome is, be it a natural birth, an epidural birth, or a cesarean birth, women grow and find out that there is a well of strength inside of them.
Another place I see this happen is when I am training new doulas and childbirth educators. They begin to blossom and become more and more fragrant as they open up to becoming everything they hoped could be possible. Their knowledge grows, their intuition grows, their confidence grows and they find out how amazingly strong they truly are! They find that this inner strength, coupled with their training, will be what equips them to become amazing doulas or educators who support couples as they have amazing births! I would love to be part of your journey as you train to become a childbirth educator or doula. Join me!
Alexa Gumm- Doula Trainer
Long before I birthed my own girls, I stumbled upon the story of an empowering birth. I knew then that birth could be an incredible experience and one I wanted to fully embrace and learn about. My four births were joyous occasions where I felt supported and loved, all experiences that I cherish. My hope is for all women to have that same kind of positive and transformative birth experience. I love being a doula. It helps me accomplish this goal.
Now, as a Birth Boot Camp DOULA trainer, I can help more women work in this incredible profession where you know you are making a difference, every time you get called into work. In my work as a doula, I have found that no matter how long a birth is or how the story eventually unfolds, if a woman has felt heard, supported and cared for, ultimately, she will remember her birth more positively and that develops a better postpartum and a happier new mommy.
If I can help train more doulas who truly understand this, I know that birth will be better for more people. There is nothing that could make my heart happier. Join me for Birth Boot Camp DOULA training! I can’t wait to meet you.
Hollie Hauptly- Doula Trainer
I first became a doula almost 8 years ago after the birth of my first child. I didn’t learn about doulas until the very end of my pregnancy, and I’m so glad that I hired one, even if it was a little last minute. It was amazing to have the support from someone whose sole focus was me, my husband, and our birth! I soon decided to become a doula and I’ve loved it ever since. I consider it a privilege to be invited into a family’s birth space to support them during this most special moment. I’ve been lucky enough to attend births of all kind and each of my clients is special to me. I first joined Birth Boot Camp as an instructor in 2013.
I wanted to teach an AMAZING childbirth class to give my doula clients the tools needed to have great births. I then attended Birth Boot Camp’s first ever doula training when the program was created. I love everything that Birth Boot Camp stands for and the community they create amongst an amazing group of women. As an experienced doula, I’ve loved working with new doulas to get them up and going in this amazing line of work! I’m always happy to offer tips, support, and mentorship to up and coming doulas that have a passion for this work. After being sought out by many new doulas, it fueled my fire to become a trainer with Birth Boot Camp DOULA. I’m really excited to bring doula training to Salt Lake City and surrounding areas. If you’d like to bring a doula training to your area, just let me know.
Donna Ryan- Instructor Trainer and Founder of Birth Boot Camp
After having my first amazing unmedicated birth in 1999, looking back, it was education that really made the difference. I have given birth four times – my last three without medication, and I knew if I could do it, other women could do it, too! I wanted all women to have the opportunity to have an amazing birth, so I started teaching childbirth education in 2003. I’ve taught hundreds of couples over the years. It’s been the most rewarding career, and even though I am past having babies myself, I live “vicariously” through my students. I have been involved in starting a birth network (and growing it to be the largest in the country) and have served on the Board of BirthNetwork National. Advocacy has been a big part of my career. Change starts with the consumer.

Hailie Wolfe- Doula Trainer
My name is Hailie Wolfe and I’m a small-town girl who happens to love all things pregnancy and birth. Along with my husband and 5 children, I have lived in Abilene, TX since 2012. My own births ignited a strong desire to support families through their incredible birth journeys. I truly believe that with the right preparation and support, you CAN have an amazing birth. I became a certified Birth Boot Camp Instructor in 2013 and have been teaching consecutive classes the majority of the time since. I started working as a doula shortly after, and when the Birth Boot Camp DOULA program was launched in 2014, I attended the first training offered by the company.
As the Doula Certification Coordinator for the Headquarters Team at Birth Boot Camp, I know all the ins and outs of the pre-certification training modules and work closely with the other Doula Trainers to help prepare new doulas for their workshops. I also work closely with our Lead Doula Trainer, Alexa Gumm, on the on-going development of the doula training program. We truly make it a priority to constantly evolve in order to offer the best doula training available in the country. Join me in Abilene for my next doula workshop!
