Here’s Why Preparing for Your Birth Is So Important for You & Your Baby
There may be more at stake than you think. Without preparation, it’s easy to feel overwhelmed, unsupported, or unsure of what’s happening – and that can stay with you long after birth.
Avoid Interventions You Don’t Want
When you don’t understand your choices, you’re more likely to experience interventions you didn’t expect, or even need. Things like inductions, epidurals, or cesareans can be helpful when necessary, but they also come with risks. Without preparation, you may feel like decisions were made for you, not with you — which can lead to longer recovery, frustration, or regret.
Being Prepared Brings You Closer
Birth isn’t just physical – it’s deeply emotional. Without preparation, it’s easy for both you and your partner to feel unsure, disconnected, or overwhelmed by the moment. But when you prepare together, something shifts: you begin to trust each other, understand your roles, and feel more connected as a team. That shared confidence can make all the difference during birth and beyond.
Birth Trauma Is Real – But It’s Not Inevitable
An experience that should be empowering can turn traumatic when you feel powerless or unheard. Studies show that 1 in 3 women experience birth trauma and many of those cases could be prevented with better preparation and support. Trauma can affect bonding, mental health, and even how you feel about yourself as a parent.
Your Experience Matters Long After Birth
Birth isn’t just a day — it’s a beginning. The way you’re treated and how prepared you feel impacts your recovery, your emotional well-being, and even future pregnancies. It can shape how you feel as a mother, how you parent, and how confident you are in your own body and choices.
Imagine a birth experience where you feel completely supported, informed, and confident.
Here’s what that might look like for you!
When Her Partner Said, “I’m So Glad We’re Doing This”
“My husband and I learned SO much from this course! At one point he said, “I am so glad we are doing this. There is so much I didn’t know!” We now both feel at peace and prepared for birth. We recommend this class for all couples to take together before giving birth. So well organized and TONS of great information. You will not regret it!” – Halie

Meet Your Instructors
Hi, I’m Hollie Hauptly — and I’m honored to be your guide as you prepare for one of the most powerful experiences of your life.
I’ve been a childbirth educator and doula since 2010, and over the past 15 years, I’ve supported hundreds of couples as they prepare for birth with clarity and confidence. After my own first birth transformed my life, I dove headfirst into this work — and never looked back.
As the CEO of Birth Boot Camp, and someone with a background in education and curriculum development, I’ve poured my heart and expertise into creating the kind of course I wish every parent had access to: modern, comprehensive, and rooted in real-life experience.
My favorite part of teaching is witnessing the transformation that happens when couples realize: they’re not just having a baby — they’re stepping into their story with confidence.
My mission is simple — to help you feel strong, informed, and proud of your birth, no matter how it unfolds.
Hi, I’m Cheryl Amelang — your co-host and fellow guide through this life-changing season of birth and parenthood.
Since 2012, I’ve had the privilege of teaching childbirth classes and attending births as a birth assistant, supporting families through one of the most unforgettable experiences of their lives. My own birth stories are what led me here, and it’s been my joy to walk alongside hundreds of couples as they prepare, learn, and grow more confident together.
What I love most is watching that shift happen — when couples realize they’re not just hoping for a good birth… they’re building the foundation for one. Week after week, you’ll grow more connected, more informed, and more sure of yourselves. And I’ll be here to guide you every step of the way.
Together with Hollie, we’ve created a course that’s more than just information — it’s a complete preparation experience designed to help you feel supported, empowered, and ready.

Have More Questions? Check Out Our FAQ’s!
What makes Birth Boot Camp’s online classes unique compared to other childbirth education programs?
Birth classes on the market tend to be “methods” which give women one or two methods of pain management to use during their labor and births. This limits the person’s ability to manage pain and can leave her feeling like a failure or she didn’t “do it right.” Birth Boot Camp is not a method. Our goal is to fill each labor tool box with a variety of comfort measures, relaxation techniques, and tips and tricks so they can decide what works best for them at any given point in labor! We know that each laboring person has unique desires, likes, dislikes, goals, and personalities that play into how they labor and what works best. We also believe partners are a valuable part of the birth team and process. We train partners in how to be the amazing support they desire to be! We believe you and your partner can bring your baby earthside with confidence, education, pain management strategies that work, and have an amazing birth experience together!
Which class should I choose?
Have you taken our quiz? We recommend starting there, but here are a few other things to consider.
You may want to consider the Comprehensive Class is you are a first time parent, planning a natural birth, or are wanting a VBAC. This class also includes information about newborn care, breastfeeding, and the postpartum recovery. You’ll receive complimentary access to the Birth Boot Camp Breastfeeding Class taught by Mellanie Sheppard, IBCLC. It’s great for all birth locations including hospital births and out-of-hospital births. The Comprehensive Class has the most information for the best value.
You may want to consider the Hospital Class if you are looking for information specifically focused on delivering in the hospital. You’ll learn how to navigate hospital policies and interventions, as well as pain management options.
You may want to consider the Home and Birth Center Class is you will be delivering at home or a free-standing birth center. You’ll learn what’s most important in helping you achieve your natural birth, while lowering your chances of needing interventions.
When should I start my class?
A majority of our students begin their class between 20 and 25 weeks.
Ideally, you’d begin your class with enough time to watch one class each week, practice what you learn, do the homework, have discussions together, talk to your care provider, write your birth plan, etc.
If you’re starting a little later, no problem. You’ll just be learning it all in a shorter amount of time.
How long will I have access to my class?
You will have 12 months of unlimited access to the class(es) you are registered for.
What is included in my online class?
Your online class includes hours of video content filled with tons of information and tips, demonstration and practice videos, and relaxation recordings.
Each course has an online e-book with the option to upgrade to a physical workbook if you’d like.
How can I get the most out of my class?
Treating your online classes as you would a live class is the best bit of advice. Pick a class night, put it in your calendar, then do the homework (relaxation, Chow Charts, exercises, discussions with each other and/or care provider, etc.) during the week. Don’t try to cram the classes all at once, even if you are getting a late start. Space them out by at least a few days and work on the weekly assignments even if it’s not for an entire week. Be accountable to each other. Other useful tips can be found once you log on after registration.
What if I have questions? Who do I contact?
Your online instructors, Hollie Hauptly and Cheryl Amelang, would love to help if you have any questions at all while you complete your online class.

Are these classes only for people that want a natural birth?
How does this birth class prepare my partner to provide support during labor? Should he take the class too?
Partners are an important part of the birth team! Often partners don’t know where they fit in or what they can do to really help. We give dads concrete ways to help during the labor and birth process. We give them hands-on tools, how to provide emotional support, ways to talk to the birth team, questions to ask, and conversations to have. When partners are prepared, this gives birthing people confidence that they will be supported in every way so they can focus on the hard work of birthing their baby. We love preparing partners and dads!
What are the advantages of taking an online birth class versus an in-person class?
Can I pay with my HSA/FSA card?
We gladly accept HSA/FSA payments! If you have an HSA/FSA card you should be able to use it when you purchase your class.
