Meet Kristy Huber!
Birth Boot Camp Postpartum Doula Trainer
A Journey of Love and Dedication
Hello my name is Kristy Huber and I am a birth and postpartum doula and a postpartum doula trainer. I’ve done this blessed work for nearly three decades. I’m married to a wonderful man Ron going on 43 years. We were high school sweethearts and have loved our life together. We have five incredible children and now 17 grandchildren which makes the world so much better!
Birthing Experiences
I had five beautiful unmedicated births. I loved labor and delivery and wanted 12 children to have that incredible surge of endorphins but quickly realized I’d need to feed them, get them off to college and raise them to be contributing adults. So five was perfect. They’ve all done well!
The Beginnings of Doula Work
I had a young teenage girl who I taught in church get pregnant with a married man’s baby. She banged on door one night at 1 am to tell me about her dilemma and this began my informal doula work. I helped
her find a Certified Nurse Midwife for care, attended her appointments and childbirth classes. One night at her class the Instructor said you should become a doula I said “do what?” She gave a number of my mentor and I started to blaze trails in doula work in the Salt Lake City, Utah area. There was only one other woman practicing when I began. The field was wide open and I was busily navigating positive strides in Utah and even became a traveling doula. I’ve been to Hawaii, Myrtle Beach South Carolina and many other fun places to work and play!
Finding Birth Boot Camp
I have taught in three colleges, a hospital and privately. I now teach throughout the country.
I didn’t align with an organization until I found Birth Boot Camp. BBC resonated with me because of their requirement for trainees to do precertification work prior to the training. This allows all students to arrive in trainings on the same page. I also was extremely impressed with the support given after certification from Headquarters, Facebook groups, blogs, kajabi, podcasts and so much more.
Life Beyond Doula Work
I live a full life. I love to sing and play the piano. For several years I sang with a 350 member choir. I have been a winning contestant on Let’s Make a Deal and Family Feud. My husband and I were on The Today Show with a 12 minute segment. I attend all our grandchildren’s sporting events and you can hear me screaming the loudest on the sidelines. Nature plays a huge role in my life and I try to walk daily in all sorts of weather.
Leaving a Legacy of Love
The greatest compliment a client or trainee can give me is that I made them feel good about themselves. I believed in them. At the end of my life I know people won’t remember all I taught them but I hope they remember how I made them feel. It’s always worth being nice to all people and being kind and thoughtful. This makes the world a better place. I hope I leave a legacy of love.
“Kristy was my postpartum doula for almost 3 months. My doula for my first baby recommended Kristy for postpartum work and hiring her was the best decision we made for our new family. She took great care of me and my new son, who unexpectedly spent his first 10 days in the NICU. She has a very caring nature and she knows so much about babies and new mothers. She became a big part of our family immediately. We miss her!” – Erica Dahl“Kristy gave me the best post partum doula care I could have ever asked for. Not only did she render useful help with things like dishes and laundry, but she also offered priceless expertise, moral support, and encouragement as my new baby and I got to know each other and adjust to the new rhythm of our lives. The transition to motherhood, while always challenging and surprising, was simplified and enjoyable because of Kristy’s expertise and service. My mind was at ease knowing that I had such a capable and caring doula to lean on as I took my first tenuous steps into motherhood.” –
