Deb SchirmacherMuscotah, Atchison, Hiawatha, Topeka, Kansas City, NE Kansas, Kansas About Me
Caregiving is at the heart of who I am and the reason that I serve others. Holding hands, helping hearts and serving families is my passion. As my daughters started having their own babies I realized that it was really important to me to be part of their births. I started training and studying to be a birth doula and that has led me to where I am today. Being part of the Birth Boot Camp family has been a great step for me. I have learned so much about pregnancy and birth and I want to be able to share that with others. Birth Boot Camp is an amazing organization dedicated to preparing moms and their partners for their baby's birth. I have always liked teaching so this seemed like a natural fit for me. What a fun job to be preparing others for one of the most significant events in their lives!
I'm really excited to be a Certified Birth Boot Camp Instructor. I have taken a lot of training in the birth world but this allows me to be able to teach moms and their partners what they need to know on their pregnancy and birth journeys. Teaching is an extension of who I am - I want parents to be prepared and feel confident that they CAN have an amazing birth! Birth Boot Camp offers so many classes so that parents can find the right one for them. Being an Instructor really is about helping new parents with what they need to know in a fun and safe environment. Learning is powerful and helps take away the fear and stress and gives you the tools that you need to feel prepared.
As a doula I provide compassionate care, comforting touch. techniques to bring you relief, and helping your baby to be in the best position to be born is the heart of what I do. Although I bring a bag of comforts to use at a birth, my hands, voice and presence are the best tools I have. I want to bring calm to your birth. Bringing my experience and helping you stay informed is important so that you can make the best decisions possible. Getting to know you during your pregnancy helps develop the trust that is needed during birth. Moms can be very vulnerable during their labor and birth. It's my job to protect your space and give you the needed information to stay focused on meeting your new little.
I am a certified Birth doula and have had training as a Postpartum doula too. Part of my experience is also being a pastor's wife. Years of ministering has given me a love for people - no matter the age or stage of life - and a wide range of opportunities. My own four natural births and extensive breastfeeding experience adds to my skill set. Knowing grief and loss (2 babies in heaven) personally contributes to my calm and thoughtful care. I'm also a Certified Bereavement doula and an End-of-Life Doula serving families through illness, death & grief. I would love to listen to your story. Your birth matters and I would love to be your doula. Walking along side another's journey is a gift. I would be honored to be by your side. My Class Schedule
