Atlanta Doula Training Highlights

We talked about it, we advertised it, and then we did it!

Birth Boot Camp DOULA was so excited to finally travel for a doula training and we had a fabulous time in the amazing city of Atlanta, Georgia as we trained up a new crop of professional doulas on the East coast.

One of our favorite things about Birth Boot Camp is watching so many of our instructors and doulas cross certify. We had two of our instructors join doula training and they got the chance to meet each other. Carmen Calvo, on the left, is one of our new childbirth Instructor Trainers based out of Baltimore, Maryland. Jillian Freeland is an instructor in Winchester, VA.

They even got to learn some rebozo on each other. At Birth Boot Camp, family time means pretending you are in labor. It’s how we show love. Love watching these women build community and relationships!

Learning how to help make a laboring woman more comfortable is an important part of being an awesome doula. So we practice it.

Practicing the hand massage is a wonderful part of doula training. The simple act of touch is so important to establishing relational support as a doula. So of course, this is a huge part of our doula training.

There is so much a doula can do to help comfort a laboring woman, in a bed, in a tub, in her living room- no matter where! We love practicing on each other and perfecting doula techniques so that when we go attend births, it all becomes second nature.
