Childbirth Classes in Rockford, IL and Beloit, WI

We are excited to welcome Elizabeth Rozsa to the Birth Boot Camp family of instructors. Teaching childbirth classes in two states (Illinois and Wisconsin) and the mother of three beautiful kids, you will love her classes! Plus, she is a doula! Elizabeth had three very different births and brings her knowledge and experience to every single class.

First, could you introduce yourself? Tell us a little bit about your own birth experiences and how they influenced your desire to teach birth classes in Beloit, WI.

Classified as a small-town Midwest girl, I’ve spent most of my life surrounded by open roads, cornfields, and some form of livestock residing nearby.

I’ve enjoyed tastes of city life through living in Chicago, IL and Minneapolis, MN, but am thankful for recently settling back in Illinois closer to family with my husband and three girls.

During my first pregnancy I assumed that since women have given birth for thousands of years that innately- a positive, natural birth experience would just occur without the need to put forth much effort or personal research/education. The depth of my personal preparation included skimming a few birth books and watching a birth video online (which afterwards I called my mom in tears because I was convinced there was NO WAY I could go through that!).

Twenty-four hours into laboring with #1 : an epidural was just what I needed to get some much needed rest. Three hours later our daughter was born.

While having an overall positive hospital experience with our first, for financial reasons we opted to birth #2 in a freestanding birth center. The prenatal/birth support was fundamentally different on all levels. Experiencing a peacefully calm, minimally interrupted labor and delivery opened my eyes to how incredible and empowering the process of birth is and can be.

My husband and I had the joy of another great birth experience with having a waterbirth with #3 at home.

What first got you interested in the realm of birth?

After the personally eye opening birth with my #2 : I had such a different perception of pregnancy and childbirth. It could be a beautifully amazing, empowering experience! This was a much different perception than what I had gathered over the years culturally or even from the “memorable” online birth video I had seen years earlier.

One day on Facebook I saw someone’s picture of the books they were reading for their recent birth doula training. Curious : I Googled what a birth doula was. Upon reading and researching further, I knew that serving others through that role was what I was meant to do!

There are lots of different birth educator training programs out there. Why did you choose Birth Boot Camp?

What set Birth Boot Camp apart for me while looking for a natural childbirth education training program was their value on up-to-date and modern educational materials and marketing. I appreciated the emphasis and effort on creating an aesthetically appealing brand and a program that I could be proud of. Also offering fantastic additional business and personal support for instructors in the program set them apart as well.

Tell us a little about your Birth Boot Camp training experience. Where did you train?

In May of 2015 I boarded a plane and flew to Instructor training in Grapevine, TX. It was a whirl-wind four days of meeting the fun staff behind Birth Boot Camp, learning how to effectively teach the Birth Boot Camp curriculum, building relationships with fellow birth professionals from around the country, and soaking up some alone time away from my littles who stayed at home. ☺

What do you enjoy most about teaching birth classes in Rockford, IL?

What I enjoy most about teaching classes is the opportunity to build new relationships with others. Whether it’s through networking in the community to discover resources to pass along or getting to know the couples who take the class- it’s been so fun! Another reward of teaching classes is knowing I play even a small role in helping to enrich the memories of tomorrow for these families that they’ll never forget.

Elizabeth is active in her birth community with her company, Rise & Shine Baby.

To close, tell us how you see natural childbirth education having a positive impact? Why does this work matter to you?

Birth- whichever path it takes- is an incredible life-transforming event. The natural childbirth education series, Birth Boot Camp, offers women the opportunity to be informed, empowered, and prepared to make decisions that will be best for them when it is time to birth their little one. If a woman is striving for a natural birth in our community- I love being an available resource to offer the tools and encouragement to help her dreams become reality.
